Network Confirms DDoS Attacks Responsible for Disconnections

EPN’s Security is Uncompromised and 100% Watertight

Curacao, Netherlands Antilles, (Tuesday, December 16, 2014) – The Equity Poker Network (EquityPokerNetwork.com  -“EPN”) confirmed today that their Network’s Game Servers have recently experienced several targeted Distributed Denial of Service attacks, known as DDOS attacks. These concerted attacks have coincided with a growing number of industry reports currently circulating of many other online poker networks being hit with very similar attacks.

The DDOS attacks at EPN have occurred intermittently across the past six weeks, causing some short-term disruptions to Network connectivity, and frustrating poker room outages.

For players at EPN’s flagship online poker room, Full Flush Poker (“FFP”), the DDOS Attacks have resulted in quick disconnections from the Game Server and subsequent temporary interruptions to tournament and cash game play at various times. These outages have mostly been short-lived of 30-60 seconds, and the small number of player issues dealt with quickly and efficiently by FFP’s Customer Support.

DDOS is an attempt to make a machine or network resource unavailable to its intended users through a coordinated group of computers all simultaneously sending large number of bogus data requests to a single system, such that the system becomes so busy responding to all the fake requests that it ends up being unable to fulfill legitimate ones. Thus causing users to lose connection to the service or being unable to connect.

EPN has assured all Network Operators that the security of its data remains uncompromised, and that they are working to mitigate the affect on the Network’s online poker playing community.

“ We are working behind the scenes to strengthen the Network mechanisms and structures necessary to deal with such assaults on our operations, and we hope to reach a solution shortly that will fix the outages our Network’s Operators and their players have had to endure during recent times,” said an EPN Spokesperson.

“We are pleased that the existing software and infrastructures already in place have successfully defended the data from infiltration, and that the impact on players, while frustrating, has been confined to the disconnections from the Game Server, rather than on compromising the privacy and safety of their personal data.”

“We will continue to take all necessary steps to safeguard the security of our Network, and to protect our players and the integrity of their data.”
